Who are the firedrakes?

Our family has been lucky enough to get stationed in areas with amazing wildlife and natural beauty, from Alaska to the Southeast United States and now the Dayton, Ohio area.  We started Firedrake Woodworks as a way to enjoy the outdoors together, hand-crafting art from the wild materials growing around us. 

 

Firedrakes, or fire-dragons, represent the inspiration and magic we feel every time we carve into a tree trunk and reveal a grinning bear or a grumpy gnome.  They also represent our preference for literally burning our artwork to reveal depth and detail while celebrating the natural properties of the wood rather than covering it with paint.  CHeck out our gallery and let us know if we can set something on fire for you!
